Patricia Susan Smith Jackson

Patty was born in Vallejo California on October 17, 1944 at Vallejo General Hospital to Wilber (Whitey) and Irene Smith. She attended Vallejo schools, graduating from St. Vincent High in 1962. She remained close to her Saints classmates, talking daily to several. She attended Vallejo Junior College, where she met and eventually married Tim Jackson.

As she was growing up in Vallejo, Patty was proud to be thought of as a Tomboy. She loved working with children and became a Special Education Assistant for schools in Fairfield, CA and Beaverton, OR, retiring in 1996. Patty is still loved by her former students.
Patty was a strong supporter of girlsí softball. She pioneered Portlandís development of Little League softball for girls, merging them into a male dominated organization, and convincing them to open facilities to girls. She served as Tournament Director for many softball events, leading to the decision in Williamsport to bring the Softball World Series to Portlandís Alpenrose Stadium.

She fought a brave battle against kidney disease before succumbing peacefully in her sleep. Patty was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Abercrombie in 2017. She is survived by Tim, two daughters, Carrie (John) Matsuo and Katie (Mike) Morey; and by three grandchildren, John (Jack) Jackson Matsuo, Molly Jackson Morey, and Jane Jackson Morey.

The family is planning a celebration of life on a date to be set in the fall, and asks that contributions in her name be made to The Oregon Humane Society and to the Mt Hood Kiwanis Camp.
